Let me just start from the beginning. I'll try to make it as brief as possible. I have a Toshiba laptop, very old, but worked fine. I downloaded Origin (Sims 4), and some custom content for the game.
I think there may have been a bad cc, because after that night, my computer started lagging and running very slowly. It would jump from taking about 5 seconds to open a page to 5 whole minutes just to load up the start button. Thinking I had a virus, I downloaded the free version of Avast. I ran a quick scan, it said there was nothing to be found. However, when I went to run a full thorough scan, it wouldn't start up (it'd be stuck at 0% and never progress). I looked this up online. They said to uninstall it, reboot it, and repeat until avast started to work again.
Well, I tried this, but it WOULD NOT UNINSTALL. It would get about 50% of the way and stop.
I started to panic at this point, upset and hopeless. NOTHING WOULD WORK. I tried to load windows defender, it would say the program was turned off.
I would try to turn it on, and IT WOULD NOT LET ME. I looked up everything on Microsoft and tried it. From fixing the keys to deleting programs, I even tried to 'Backup and Restore' the computer; But no matter what I did, IT KEPT GIVING ME ERRORS.
At this point, my theme was changed, nothing was working and my computer wouldn't load anything. I took it into safe mode and tried what I could. Somehow, this fixed the theme. Sometime or another I got a red screen when I tried to turn the laptop on. It didn't have any code or anything written on it. The power light was blinking.
I was actually crying by now. I found out I had malicious software on the laptop by scheduling a boot up search on avast.
It worked, until 74% and then froze, but I was able to see that Avast had found some Adw and took a picture of it so I could try to clean it out myself. I looked online and downloaded Adwcleaner, which took care of my problem for a night. It cleaned out a whole 189 threats and the computer was running more smoothly, BUT IT WOULD STILL LAG ON OCCASION. 12.
It's the next day, and I logged onto the laptop only to find that things were still being extra slow. SOMEONE, PLEASE HELP ME. IM DESPERATE. I HAVE COLLEGE PAPERS TO WRITE BEFORE TUESDAY.
I would prefer not to take it anywhere or spend any money because this isn't fully my laptop and I don't have the money or the time to take it anywhere. My hearts melting. Someone please help me.
